- It depends on if you are interested in the heritage of our nation and what makes us who we are. If care more about if you forgot to put make-up on in the morning, then no, Greenfield Village is not the place for you. I absolutely love it though.
- I like to think about the people who lived and worked in those buildings--what their lives were like and how much has changed from then to now. Sometimes I try to imagine myself in their place I also like to look for details in the exhibits, notice things that other people just pass by and don't even see.
- at your age I was bored out of my mind too
I "thought" I was too cool to go there
as I get older I appreciate the history saved or restored more and more
- Based on your description, I see you do not find Greenfield Village an interesting place to visit. I have visited The Henry Ford many times in the past and I look forward towards visiting it again in the future.
I believe that when young adults and young children go to a historical village like Greenfield Village that you need to realize that it has taken a lot of hard work through the work of technology to get to from the past to the present day. You need to realize that the way you lived life today in 2008 is not the way people lived life in 1908, 1888, or even in 1848. When you go to Greenfield Village, you should go to the exhibits at the homes and businesses in the village and realize that life at one time was much different that today. There was a time when there was no such thing as electricity, video games like Nintendo or Playstation, young adults your age worked on the family farm in order to eat, and that you went to the General Store instead of going to TARGET or The Home Depot.
Greenfield Village is one of the first historical villages in the country that helps their guest understand what life was like in the past. I believe visiting historical villages can help audiences of all ages understand how life has evolved overtime in the changes of technology from the past to the present day and helps you understand what life was like in a different time period. Although I haven’t been to Greenfield Village in years, I did visit a place like Greenfield Village in Lumpkin, Georgia named Westville Village which portrays Georgia during the life of the 1850’s and the village help me realize that at one time, life evolved a lot of hard work to get from what life was like in the 1850’s to what life is like now in the 21st Century.
I can understand if you will find Greenfield Village boring but you need to realize that it has taken a lot of hard work through the work of technology and leaders of the past to get from the past to the present day because what we take for granted today the men and women during the 18th Century and even into the 19th Century did not have the technologies that we have today in 2008.
- I think it's really cool to check out the old houses and stuff. I love it.
- i use to go every year when i was young and loved it, i would pretend it was my neighborhood, i went last year with my sons class, it was so hot that day, i took the kids in the gift shop twice, and made sure they all got something.
- If you only play video games than most all cultural interaction will bore you.
bring your DS - tune in and drop out.
- It is better than being in class.
- omg, i <3 it there, but i dont think its a good place for a field trip, more of a place you explore on your own,go back one day on your own and not with a whole lotta ppl, also, check out the henry ford museam, altho i do prefer the village over the museam
